I was an equestrian studies minor in the 1970's, and what I learned in my studies of anatomy, veterinary, stable management, and breeding, has helped in my lifelong equine pursuits. For 4yrs after college(& Art Center College of Design,CA) I managed a 125 horse barn with 2 "A " show trainers, a riding school, tack shop, and numerous boarders. Having Eq. Studies on my resume although I only had it as a minor for a few years definitely has helped open doors and aided me in choosing horses to purchase green and turn into top show animals competing at Madison Square Gardens, and selling for 250k, and another that I bought at 18 months showed dressage then hunter and sold to Miles Davis the jazz legend.

Never spent over 2k on prospect horse as I didn't have the money. What I learned about conformation and have continued to learn how it can effect movement and function has helped me make good choices and not just buy "cute" equines.

Studying breeding helped me choose my mother mare Roya an American Warmblood who I crossed with a Grande line(hannoverian) to get my mare Grand Enya a Rhinelander. Enya scored Premium at her inspection for conformation and movement by the judge from Germany, and has gone on to train/show dressage. She's quite a talented mare and now I have the physical/mental ability to go forward in her training.

I've been slowed down by a near fatal brain injury (sub arachnoid hematoma resulting in semi-hemi paresis) caused by a horse that I was not warned by the owner that it had seriously injured her, and had some mental issues.

My horses and dressage have saved my life. Dressage can really help restore mental functionality ie cognizance levels, as well as give me back balance. It has definitely helped my left side of my body of which had been partially paralyzed.

Enya and I will start showing again this spring probably first level3,4 the first show or two then move up to second and hopefully we'll be solid third by the end of the year. I'll be travelling to europe to train with a friend in CZ, a former rider/trainer from the Spanish Riding School, Vienna.

What you learn in college and from our equine partners can last and help for a lifetime!

You should visit Branson's Titanic Museum Attraction. I can only imagine what the passengers of the RMS Titanic must have experienced that cold, starry night in 1912. What a fateful voyage! When you arrive, they give you a "boarding pass" with the name of an actual passenger that was onboard the original RMS Titanic. My character was Lady Duff Gordan, a fashion designer. I got to view the Memorial wall at the end of the tour and discovered that she was one of the survivors. My husband was not so lucky. His passenger died that night. It really gave us chills to get to know them and their fate.

I interviewed Sally Rand in 1972,she was defnately a one of a kind and had perfect recall.I said to her that author Irving Shulman mentioned her in his "Harlow" book, she said "Oh,I know,Shulman is full of it....for instance he kept saying that Paul Bern was impotent and that is why he killed his self, well let me tell you,he was NOT impotent, there was nothing wrong with him at all,Shulman lied and never even talked to me!Paul Bern was murdered, alot of people knew that but who is gonna put there number one star in a bad light?Harlow did not kill him,of course,it was some woman he was married to years before."At the time,NOBODY had even heard this story, turned out she was right though...I'd drawn a picture of her which she signed saying "I remember this dress you drew,it was pink and I got it in 1935!"Thought you might find this interesting.Thanks.

AVOID AVOID AVOID This business has some employees who use vulgar language, in front of your children. my wife and i went to the haunted house, and purchased the combo ticket for $116.00, last night , the 28th of october. Two different employees dropped the F-BOMB right in front of our 9 year old child repeatedly. We complained to a man who was supposedly a "manager", the man looked like he was high , or drunk, and was not very accomidating to us , offering A WEAK APOLOGY, AND PROMISING TO REPRIMAND THE TWO EMPLOYESS, IF HE COULD FIGURE OUT WHICH TWO THAT WE TRIED TO DESCRIBE TO HIM. mY WIFE AND i ARE INFURIATED, OVER THIS INCIDENT, and we both were offended, by the fact we paid to have our child hear vulgar profanities, at this business. The manager refused to refund our money, this business is populated with mostly unprofessional scumbag losers and riff-raff ,not paid much most likely who cannot get a real job, other than the temp work here. Enter at your own risk applies to these haunted house businesses, but some common decency is not to be expected here. Take the high road, and avoid this lowlife gutter trash business, unless you also want to pay to have profanity hurled at your family..

I have the old'est known Cardinals poster in existence. A 1934 Carddinals all stars poster featuring P.Dean , D.Dean, Martin, Hallahan, Davis, Collins and Frisch the manager. It says (at top) Stars of the St. Louis Cardinals 1934. (bottom) HEAR THE FORD BROADCAST of theWORLD SERIES. Action poses of the players in the middle. Good condition. I had taken it to the old Bush museum where the museum curiator and historian verified that they did not know that there was one like this one in existence. Poster size 19in.x25in.

Absolutely the best place to visit in the fall. We took several family members and had a wonderful time! Can;t wait to go again this year! If you haven't been there, I suggest you go early and do the corn maze last (in the dark is the best)! Happy Halloween

The food was great - the workers were great - the price was fine. The bathroom was terrible. I got there about 10:40am and went to the larger bathroom by the main entrance. The sinks were all dirty, not fresh dirt. All of the stools had paper in them and the one I used had dirty rusty stains all over the back by the inlet pipe. The stall walls were in need of a good cleaning and the stall doors could use some paint. I had to go to 3 sinks before I found one that worked and the mirrors were spotted. There were bugs in the light covers. I ride down from Effingham IL, 192 miles, once a year and enjoy the ride and the meal. With the fame and volume of customers that surrounds Lambert's Cafes, I was very surprised to find the bathroom that dirty. I am not asking for a reply or anything -this is just FYI.

I notice in your information about the radio program, nothing is said about the beginning of the broadcast being called Sermons in Song. I was in the choir in 1946 and was a member of the Sermons in Song quartet, which later became Revivaltime quartet. Les Barnet had the choir first, then Marcus Gaston. I sang with the quartet till 1951, and we made many records. Just wondering if anyone remembered this part of the radio program.

My mother Lynn Hollis looked after William Straub Anheuser for the last 18 years of his life. He had a daughter Althea named after Bill's sister who died aged 3. She passed away going on 6 years ago. Bill lived a very full life and died 2 years ago leaving us at age 98. He was and is very dear to us. I to have heard many stories about that time in his life at Kimmswick and all his childhood friends. And to answer your question Fred and Olga were the parents of Fred, Althea, William and Presley Anheuser. i am always happy to hear stories of this family.

It makes me proud to be among such patriotic people no matter where they come from. Vietnamese know better than most the value of a free nation and this festival is a wonderful example the rest of the country should learn from. They are true Americans. God bless them and keep them safe.

We moved to the area way back in the late fifties when my father was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. ( 1957) I stared school on base and when my father retired from the military I went to school in downtown Waynesville. I attended 1st almost thru 6th grade. At that time my older brother was in high school, an older sister was four years ahead of me and a younger sister was 3 yrs behind me. I have to say the essence of my childhood was grounded in the adventures I had in Waynesville while living just between St Roberts and Devil"s Elbow. Penrod"s Trailer Park was home. Swimming in the newly installed swimming pool that Mr. Penrod had built, swinging on the tarzan swing over the ravine in the woods, playing red rover, red rover with all the kids in the park was how we spent our summers. Winter time was skating, sleding, and school. I remember going shopping for dresses with my mother at the department store downtown. Saturdays were a treat when we went to the movies at the downtown theatre to see a double feature and cartoons. At first it cost .10 to get into the movies and then it went up to .25. What a bargain... I have to say I would love to go back to see how things have changed and see if anything has remained the way I remember. Someday I know I'll return.

Actually the Methodist church is down the hill from the Pierce City Christian Church that HBW pastored in the 1890s. This church was a First Christian, Disciples of Christ congregation. Eventually the church closed and the building was given to the PTA and became the town's public library. In 2000 the library moved to a new building and the former church became the Harold Bell Wright Museum.

Wilmer,
There is no cost for visiting the Observatory but you need to schedule it with one of the volunteers to get it set up. You can call Walter Powell at 417-682-3745 to get it set up. Enjoy your experience!
This observatory is run by volunteers of the community.

I've been to many casinos: Las Vegas; gambled at Harrah's, Ameristar and Lumiére in St. Louis; checked out the casinos in Iowa and even played blackjack in Deadwood, South Dakota. Although you can't beat the antique atmosphere in Deadwood, SD, what I've found is that Terrible's in little La Grange, Missouri, has as good an atmosphere as any other casino, if not better.

The employees are friendly, the sandwiches are cheap (can't recommend the mediocre restaurant food, but the bar sandwiches are fine), the Casey's gas station around the corner is the cheapest gas in Missouri, and the blackjack tables are hot and friendly (well, except for that one guy ......... but he loses a lot).

I highly recommend this wee little casino if you want to spend your time chatting and playing.

For all who have never been it is a place for helping anyone who has lost a loved one and need to heal there hearts. The feeling of hope and peace that you feel in the chapel you will never forget. If you are not a precious moments fan it is still a place you must vist with family. To me it is like what heaven will be a place were there is no suffering. I hope many will vist this and be touched like me.

I wish more families would take the time to teach children more about the great outdoors. Thank you for building this, and we will continue to travel to see it from our home in Summit, Missississp.

I’m sorry, Robert, but the Distillery does not do appraisals or offer information about the value of their prior products. I have asked frequently for different readers and they just don’t do it. My suggestion is to go on one of the websites that have collectors of McCormick products and see if there is any help on them.

I would so love to be able to go to Hermann to see your museum and to re-trace the places and steps of the Massie and McKinney families that lived there. I do have a lot of history on them.

I enjoy going to Terribles! Most of the employees are very respectful and try to give the best service possible. I enjoy seeing dealers, pit bosses, security, resturant help, counter girls and guys, floor walkers, and cleanup personnel, The one thing I don't really enjoy is Loosing any money, but that is what makes it a business that will stay. All I can say is "Thanks Terribles" for the hospitality you show me each time I go to the casino.
