The Medical Gallery will have one of the largest collections of Civil War medical artifacts in the Midwest, including surgical kits, amputation kits, equipment, and medicine.

The “Civil War in Popular Culture” exhibit will highlight the Civil War in film and literature and contain costumes and props from Civil War movies such as: Gone With The Wind, North and South, The Undefeated, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, etc.

Because our home of Jefferson Barracks (founded in 1826) is the oldest active military base west of the Mississippi River, one gallery will be dedicated to Jefferson Barracks history of every era.

The artifact collection includes: guns, swords, flags, projectiles, Civil War stamps and currency, musical instruments, parlor chairs owned by Mary Todd Lincoln, and hundreds of other items.
