The Foundry Art Centre, featuring Smithsonian-caliber art galleries, hosts national and international juried fine art exhibitions and traveling exhibitions. Over 20 artists have studio galleries where visitors can tour and watch as the artists create paintings, pottery, jewelry, digital art and sculptures. Art can be purchased directly from the artists.

Located on the riverbank in the historic Frenchtown district of St. Charles – Missouri’s oldest city on the Missouri River – the Foundry resides in what was once a train car factory. Rather than demolish this 1940s structure, the region’s arts community and the local officials of St. Charles saw the potential for the 36,800 square foot building just steps away from the city’s riverfront park.

There is a children’s gallery where supplies are furnished for children to create their own artwork. Check with them for the schedule of different programs.

Studios for artists built on a mezzanine level of the building, with open glass fronts to allow visitors to see artists at work and talk with them as they practice their crafts. Artists involved in painting, sculpture, ceramics, book arts, photography, jewelry making, fiber, printmaking and mixed media interact with visitors as they create, building support for their work and interacting with one another to further the creative process.

Artists that are housed in the gallery will show different mediums of work and interact with the public to answer questions and show their work.
