Get a close look at a live North American Bald Eagle during the hourly programs at the Apple Shed located at the southern part of Clarksville. When you consider the wingspan of this National Symbol being from between 6 feet and 8 feet, the visitor has the opportunity to experience this great bird through a program sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Eagle Center — Located at the northern end of Clarksville, the World Bird Sanctuary offers daily programs with live North American Bald Eagles and other raptors. Scopes are available indoors to give the visitor to view the eagles along the river and in the trees.

Spotting Scopes — Set up in Riverfront Park in the heart of the historic downtown commercial district, the Missouri Department of Conservation offers several spotting scopes along the banks of the Mississippi River to allow the visitor the opportunity to view the eagle in close proximity as they feed or roost in their winter habitat. Although the eagles can be seen without the use of scopes or glasses, it is always a thrill to look at them at close range. Bonfires will also be set in the part to help to lessen the chill as the visitor watches the eagles circling overhead. This experience is a must for the avid eagle watcher.

Eagle Prints — Free prints of an eagle are available to the first two hundred visitors from the Missouri Department of Conservation. This long-time tradition has become a favorite of collectors.

Eagle Postal First Day Covers & Cancellation — Each year local artist, Mike Brewer, designs a first day cover for the Eagle Days celebration. On Saturday, the postmaster will be at this event to hand cancel any mail for the day with a special cancellation stamp. This is a stamp collector’s delight.

Free Printed Material — The Missouri Department of Conservation offers free brochures and other items related to information about the North American Bald Eagle.

Children’s Art Show; Great Food — Students from the Clopton Schools will display their artwork depicting our National Symbol at various locations. Opportunities to eat locally prepared foods abound not only in the local eating establishments but also in the churches. Everything from soups, chili, ham and bean, catfish filet sandwiches and many other delectable tid bits will be available. This is what a true small town experience is about, great things to see, lessons to learn and great food!
