I interviewed Sally Rand in 1972,she was defnately a one of a kind and had perfect recall.I said to her that author Irving Shulman mentioned her in his “Harlow” book,she said “Oh,I know,Shulman is full of it….for instance he kept saying that Paul Bern was impotent and that is why he killed his self,well let me tell you,he was NOT impotent,there was nothing wrong with him at all,Shulman lied and never even talked to me!Paul Bern was murdered,alot of people knew that but who is gonna put there number one star in a bad light?Harlow did not kill him,of course,it was some woman he was married to years before.”At the time,NOBODY had even heard this story,turned out she was right though…I’d drawn a picture of her which she signed saying “I remember this dress you drew,it was pink and I got it in 1935!”Thought you might find this interesting.Thanks.
