Branson Scenic Railroad - Branson, Missouri
The historic 1905 depot in downtown Branson, just one block west of Lake Taneycomo (formerly the White River), is the headquarters for the Branson Scenic Railway. Bushwhacker Jail - Nevada, Missouri
The Bushwhacker Jail serve as a regional study center with exhibits and archives on genealogy.
For 100 years, spanning the Civil War and the post-war outlaw era, this picturesque stone building was the Vernon County jail. The "cell room of medieval malevolence" remains just as the last prisoners it in December of 1960. The front rooms were home to the jailer (usually the deputy sheriff) and his family.
The Truman Birthplace - Lamar, Missouri
The Truman Birthplace - Lamar, Missouri Harry Truman was born in a farmhouse in Lamar, Missour. This house is now a museum for the public to visit.
Born May 8, 1884 the future 33rd President lived in this house until he was 11 months old. The house was built between 1880 and 1882. The Trumans purchased the 20 by 28-foot house as newlyweds in 1882 for $685. Visitors today can view its four downstairs rooms and two upstairs rooms, as well as the smokehouse, water well, and outhouse located in the back.
