Stilabower Public Observatory – Lamar, Missouri The observatory has a 14 inch telescope for visitor use.
This is a community owned observatory which is one of just a few in the entire nation.
Another unique aspect of this observatory is its design that allows handicapped-accessibility and its ease for small children to allow both groups to see what anyone else would see at other observatories across the country.
The observatory14-inch telescope has computerized tracking, and a digital imaging system. This allows the visitor to input the information for the area they want to observe and the telescope will locate and track it on it’s own. This is a valuable asset to the tracker that is looking for the specific obit, star or planet.
This is a fabulous opportunity for both adults and children to get familiar with the worlds beyond!
Open: selected evenings by special appointment.
