The Truman Birthplace - Lamar, Missouri Harry Truman was born in a farmhouse in Lamar, Missour. This house is now a museum for the public to visit.
Born May 8, 1884 the future 33rd President lived in this house until he was 11 months old. The house was built between 1880 and 1882. The Trumans purchased the 20 by 28-foot house as newlyweds in 1882 for $685. Visitors today can view its four downstairs rooms and two upstairs rooms, as well as the smokehouse, water well, and outhouse located in the back.
Prairie State Park - Lamar, Missouri totals more than 3,700 acres, is Missouri’s largest remaining tallgrass prairie landscape.
A prairie is an amazingly diverse and complex ecosystem containing more than 350 different species of grasses and wildflowers. More than 150 bird species are recorded at Prairie State Park. At least 25 park plant and animal species are listed as rare or endangered.
Stilabower Public Observatory - Lamar, Missouri The observatory has a 14 inch telescope for visitor use.
This is a community owned observatory which is one of just a few in the entire nation.
Hulston Mill Park - Greenfield, Missouri
offers camping, riding trails, hiking trails, flush toilets and much more!
The fifty-acre park is packed with things to do from the antique playground equipment for the kids to the rustic amphitheater made of hewn native logs, a covered bridge, antique farm equipment, three historic log cabins (such as the original Dade County Library), and of course; the stately old Hulston Mill which today has been refurbished and is now operable.
Stockton Lake - Greenfield, Missouri This family friendly lake has over 300 miles of shoreline and 25 acres of clean water for swimming and fishing as well as boating.
You will be able to see wild animals and birds all around the lake, from geese and deer to the stately bald eagle, which has made the lake their home.

From the 1950’s this dinner theater has provided Missouri with quality dinner theater. The range of plays have encompassed everything from comedy to drama, the productions use local talent which have proven up to the job.
Maze Creek Studio - Carthage, Missouri
Andy Thomas shows his trans-Mississippi Civil War Series at this studio.
Many call Andy Thomas the ‘Storyteller’ and if you have ever had a chance to view his work you might just agree. Currently he is telling many stories with his action filled western art. These pieces are bringing the cowboys back to life as well as the American West history.
The Marian Days Festival - Carthage, Missouri A 4 day celebration by Viet Nam Catholics now living in Missouri. This celebration has brought about 50,000 Vietnamese Catholics from around the world to this small Ozarks town. Marian Days begins on a Thursday and wraps up on Sunday.
Adamson Cabin - Mt. Vernon, Missouri Built in 1845 this cabin has been restored the dogtrot-style for visitors to see.
The museum features numerous displays on Lawrence County history. Among the highlights are an 1865 hearse and the original statue of Lady Justice, which was removed from the top of the Lawrence County Courthouse in 1994 and was used as a model for the statue that now sits atop the courthouse clock tower.
Chesapeake Fish Hatchery - Mt. Vernon, Missouri Millions of warmwater fish are raised for release at this hatchery. Tours are available.
You can enjoy a range of activities at the hatchery from bird watching hiking or just having a lovely picnic. Of course there is no littering at the hatchery, no fishing or hunting on the grounds.
