Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum - Branson, Missouri
Unbelievable Exhibits at Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum
Branson, which is often referred to as the "family friendly Las Vegas," is full of places to go and things to see for the vacationing family. One of the most popular places to visit is the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum.
Even the exterior of the building draws large crowds due to its unique structure. The Ripley’s building is known as the most photographed building in Branson and one of the most photographed buildings in the world – because it looks as though an earthquake has devastated it! Don’t worry though; it was built like that on purpose, and is quite safe.
This museum has a variety of very interesting exhibits the likes of which you won’t see anywhere else. The uniqueness of the museum is what makes it such a huge draw. In seven different themed sections of the museum, you will find more than 400 different exhibits. Some will make you laugh, and some will make you cringe, but all will hole your interest.
Unbelievable Exhibits….
The Roman Colosseum made of playing cards is an incredible sight. Originally built as a high school history project, this replica contains 1,971 playing cards. This feat of engineering is almost as impressive as the real Colosseum!
The Optical Illusion Gallery is sure to delight and confuse your senses. It is a fun area where you can spend time puzzling out every item in the gallery. In the Tribal Room, you can see a genuine shrunken head from the Jivaro Tribe along with some other interesting pieces, and in the Marine Room, you can examine the contents of a shark’s stomach – which included a huge anchor!
You can see just how tall the world’s tallest man was, and just how large the world’s largest man was. You can also view a replica of the Human Unicorn, who has a 13-inch horn growing out of the back of his skull.
Check out the contents of an actual vampire killing kit that was used in the mid-1800s, when people were certain that the creatures of the night were rising from their graves. The kit includes a crucifix, a pistol, a stake, and more.
Unlike many museums, you actually can bring a camera into Ripley’s and snap as many pictures as you would like. You can spend as long as you wish at the museum, and should allow at least two hours to see and appreciate everything.
Admission for adults is $16.96, plus tax, and children 4 – 12 are $8.95 plus tax. Kids under 4 are free.
